- The night before surgery, eat light and easily digestible food. Do not consume alcoholic beverages and make sure that you get a good night’s sleep.
- Do not eat, drink, or smoke anything after midnight the night before your appointment. Refrain from smoking marijuana at least 2 weeks prior to procedure.
- For patients taking Semaglutide medications, please hold daily doses the day prior to procedure. For weekly doses, please hold for one week prior to procedure. For weekly doses, please hold for one week prior to procedure.
- PLEASE TAKE ALL MEDICATION YOU NORMALLY DO WITH A SMALL SIP OF WATER. WE MAY HAVE TO CANCEL IF YOU DO NOT TAKE YOUR NORMAL MEDICATION. If you are currently taking ANY NEW medication, please inform our office of the new medication you are taking BEFORE your surgery date.
- Your mouth and teeth should be well cleansed to avoid infection. While rinsing your mouth, avoid swallowing the water.
- Clothing Requirements: All patients should wear a short-sleeved shirt and closed–toed shoes. Shoes need to be flat, preferably sneakers and not high heels.
- Remove contact lenses before your surgery. Please leave them at home.
- DO NOT wear make-up, nail polish or jewelry. No facial piercings- you have to have nose, tongue, lip, eyebrow piercings removed prior to procedure.
- If you are under 18 years old a parent or legal guardian (with proper paperwork) must accompany you the day of surgery. If you are over the age of 18 years old, you MUST have an ADULT driver accompany you the day of surgery. That person must REMAIN in the building during surgery and escort you home after your surgery. Please, no children with the accompanying adult the day of surgery.
- You must not operate any vehicle or machinery until completely recovered from anesthesia. This may take at least 24 hours.
- YOU MUST MAKE THE DOCTOR AWARE IF THERE IS A POSSIBILITY YOU MAY BE SICK OR PREGNANT
- NO FOOD or DRINK (including water unless needed to take medication) for 8 hours before the scheduled surgery.
- Take all medications unless otherwise directed with a sip of water.
- Wear short sleeved and loose fitting clothing.
- Patient must be accompanied by responsible adult who will drive patient home. Your driver MUST remain in the reception area the entire time.
- All minors MUST be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
- Be prepared at home by having soft cold food: ice cream, yogurt, pudding, etc.
- Do not wear fingernail polish or any type of jewelry. If you wear nose ring, tongue, or lip jewelry you will be asked to remove it.
- Avoid wearing your hair in a bun. You will be asked to take it down for the surgery due to head position in the head rest.
- You are allowed to brush your teeth prior to surgery.
- No smoking at least 12 hours before surgery. Ideally, cut down or stop smoking as soon as possible prior to the day of surgery.
- The patient should not drive a vehicle or operate any machinery for 24 hours following the anesthesia experience.
- IF YOU HAVE AN ILLNESS SUCH AS A COLD, SORE THROAT, STOMACH OR BOWEL UPSET, PLEASE NOTIFY THE OFFICE.
These MUST be followed or your appointment may be cancelled.
