- NO FOOD or DRINK (including water unless needed to take medication) for 8 hours before the scheduled surgery.
- Take all medications unless otherwise directed with a sip of water.
- Wear short sleeved and loose fitting clothing.
- Patient must be accompanied by responsible adult who will drive patient home. Your driver MUST remain in the reception area the entire time.
- All minors MUST be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
- Be prepared at home by having soft cold food: ice cream, yogurt, pudding, etc.
- Do not wear fingernail polish or any type of jewelry. If you wear nose ring, tongue, or lip jewelry you will be asked to remove it.
- Avoid wearing your hair in a bun. You will be asked to take it down for the surgery due to head position in the head rest.
- You are allowed to brush your teeth prior to surgery.
- No smoking at least 12 hours before surgery. Ideally, cut down or stop smoking as soon as possible prior to the day of surgery.
- The patient should not drive a vehicle or operate any machinery for 24 hours following the anesthesia experience.
- IF YOU HAVE AN ILLNESS SUCH AS A COLD, SORE THROAT, STOMACH OR BOWEL UPSET, PLEASE NOTIFY THE OFFICE.
These MUST be followed or your appointment may be cancelled.
